12 deaths from COVID-19 reported on June 8

Twelve persons lost the battle with COVID-19 in Moldova on June 8. The death toll now stands at 353. Also, 318 infected persons are in a serious state, secretary of state at the Ministry of Health Konstantin Rymish was quoted by IPN as saying in a press briefing.

The functionary stated that 107 new infections with the novel coronavirus were confirmed today after doing
568 tests. Seven of those confirmed with the infection are healthcare workers. The largest numbers of new cases were recorded in Chisinau (23), Bălți and Comrat (by 15).

The infections now total 9,807 and 3,716 of these are active cases. As many as 100 persons got cured and were discharged from the hospital today.

As to the health system’s capacity, Konstantin Rymish said all the territorial health facilities now have sections intended for patients with COVID-19. “The situation at the local level is different, depending on the epidemiological situation and the institution’s capacity,” he noted.

The functionary also said that the number of infections in Chisinau is on the rise. “It was thus decided that the hospital of the Ministry of Health will again treat patients with COVID-19. Ninety beds will be available there at the current stage, five of which for intensive care. More sections will be adjusted if need be,” stated Konstantin Rymish
