The operator of the 112 Common Emergency Phone Service who refused to send an ambulance to the home of a pregnant woman, advising this to take a taxi to get to the hospital, was reprimanded following an internal inquiry.
In a response to an inquiry made by IPN New Agency, it is said that the 112 operator violated the professional norms of conduct and provisions of the methodology of interaction with persons who call the 112 Service.
The Service’s administration opened an internal inquiry in the middle of June, after the press reported that a woman complained that, being pregnant, she called 112 and sought help, but the operator refused to send an ambulance, advising her to take a taxi and go to the doctor. The woman took a trolleybus and reached the hospital, where she gave birth.
The case attracted the attention of Minister of Economy and Infrastructure Kiril Gaburici, who said that such behavior by a 112 operator is inadmissible. He asked to immediately present the results of the investigation, the imposed penalties and the actions that will be taken to avoid such situations in the future.
