110 ex-soldiers to be retrained

110 retired servicemen from Chisinau and other four towns in Moldova will participate in the fifth phase of an OSCE project which helps former military staff in the transition to civilian life by providing retraining courses. The fifth phase was launched on Monday by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) and the Academy of Economics, CCI announced in a press release. Courses will be provided in Chisinau and in the CCI branches in the other towns involved. The trainees include former officers and sub-officers from the National Army, the Border Guards Service and the Carabinieri. The retraining program, which will run from September 17 to December 17, will help trainees to obtain new skills and knowledge in one of the following disciplines: administration of small and mid-sized businesses, information technology, and English. “This will help them to make the best use of their potential and experience they've got”, said Victoria Cotici, the director of the CCI's Continuous Training Center. In addition to the academic courses, the trainees will be advised on how to prepare resumes and cover letters and will participate in job fairs. The Military Staff Retraining Project was launched in 2010 at the initiative of the Moldovan Government and with the support of the OSCE, and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry together with the Academy of Economics have been selected to implement it. 347 former servicemen were trained in the previous four phases.
