€10,000 needed to repair trolleybus involved in accident in Chisinau
The repair of the trolleybus that was involved in a traffic accident in Chisinau last Sunday will cost €10,000. In Monday’s meeting of City Hall officials, the head of the Chisinau Electric Transport Company Gheorghe Morgoci said all the costs will be covered by the insurance company, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The repair works will start in 10 days, when all the necessary parts ordered from Belarus will arrive in Chisinau. The trolleybus is new and started to run on route on October 15.
Mayor General Dorin Chirtoaca said this accident is a relevant example of negligence. “We always complain that the situation is bad. The discontent became a national sport in all the areas. Such cases show that we do not really care,” he stated, demanding that the trolleybus drivers be convoked to discuss road safety.
The accident happened at the intersection of N. Titulescu St and Decebal Blvd. on October 23. A Skoda and a Ford collided and the first car was projected into a trolleybus. The trolleybus went into a utility pole, downing it. Eyewitnesses said the driver of the Skoda was speeding. As a result of the collision, he received serious injuries and was rushed to the hospital in a serious condition. He died shortly afterward. Five trolleybus passengers were also taken to the hospital. They included a child aged nine.
