A number of 10,000 children in the Republic of Moldova will receive gifts from President Igor Dodon by the end of this year, through the First Lady’s Charity Foundation “Din Suflet” (“From the Heart”). The presents and other social activities will be paid from the 20 million lei collected by the Foundation this year from external and internal donations. The subject was developed by President Igor Dodon in an event held to present the results of one year of office on December 12, IPN reports.
According to the President, no state funds were spent on charity events. “The First Lady established contacts with a number of foreign charities. The assistance is transferred to the account of the organization and then directly to the account of the beneficiary, which is the one who needs assistance,” stated Igor Dodon.
The social initiatives occupied a special place in the President’s report for this year. Thus, according to Igor Dodon, at the start of the school year children from socially deprived families received over 8,000 schoolbags with stationery. Ten sports complex started to be built in the ten largest towns of the country. Assistance was provided to a number of preschool institutions and 500 more kindergartens will be assisted in 2018. There were purchased ten cochlear implants for deaf children, while 143 young people were helped to take part in different national and international contests.
In March – December 2017, there were bought modern baby carriages and medical equipment. Support was offered for having operations abroad, for rehabilitation and treatment sessions in national and foreign clinics. The assistance was intended for 110 persons with special needs, with severe disabilities or diseases. Thousands of persons were provided with medicines and elderly people received over 20,000 social parcels.
Within the campaign “I love Moldova” and with the assistance of the First Lady’s Foundation, continuous support was provided to talented young people for staging cultural, arts and sports events and for taking part in national and international contests.
Launched in March 2017, the First Lady’s Charity Foundation “Din Suflet” implements programs and projects intended for children and young people from socially disadvantaged families, one-parent families and families at risk, elderly people and persons in difficulty and with special needs. The nationwide campaign “I love Moldova”, which was initiated by Igor Dodon, was kicked off in 2011.
