€1,000 bribe for being hired at penitentiary

The head of the Human Resources Service of Penitentiary No. 17 and the chief of a police station in Rezina were arrested on charges of passive corruption. According to the denouncer, the suspects asked for and received a total of €1,000 for hiring a person as a supervisor guardian at the penitentiary, IPN reports.

According to the National Anticorruption Center, upon searches the money was found at the home of the penitentiary’s employee and in the personal car of the police officer. The two suspects were remanded in custody for 72 hours.

If they are found guilty, the men will serve five to ten years in jail or will be fined 6,000 to 8,000 conventional units.
