100 polling places to be established abroad

As many as 100 polling places will be set up abroad for the October 30 presidential elections. 40 of these will be housed by embassies and consular offices. A decision to this effect was adopted in the September 26 meeting of the Cabinet, IPN reports.

A number of 25 polling places will be established in Italy, 11 in Romania, eight in Russia, seven in the United States, six in France, by four in Portugal and Spain, by three in Canada and Turkey, by two in the UK, Israel, Greece, Ukraine, and Germany. By one polling place will be opened in Ireland, Belarus, China, the Czech Republic, Latvia, Azerbaijan, Belgium, Poland, Sweden, Estonia, Lithuania, Hungary, Austria, Bulgaria, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Qatar, Monaco, and Japan.

The draft Government decision on the establishment of polling places abroad provides that persons of the central staff of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration will be delegated to manage the electoral offices of polling places in foreign countries.
