100% of votes counted, UPDATE
All the votes have now been counted and the final results are as follows: the PCRM polled 44.7% of the vote, the PLDM – 16.6%, the PL – 14.7%, the PDM – 12.5%, the AMN – 7.3%. The other parties did not pass the election threshold. The PPCD gained 1.9% of the vote, the PSD – 1.9%, while the PEMAV – 0.4%.
UPDATE At a news conference on Friday, Eugeniu Stirbu, president of the Central Election Commission (CEC), said that the time allotted for processing the vote reports, 48 hours, was not exceeded. This time, the votes were calculated faster as the number of election runners was lower than in the previous elections.
The final report on the election outcome and the financial report on the elections will be approved by the CEC at a meeting next week, on Tuesday or on Wednesday. “After the final report is approved, it will be submitted to the Constitutional Court within 48 hours,” Stirbu said.
The electoral registers for the early legislative elections included 2 609 756 persons with the right to vote. 1 591 756 voters took part in the elections. 1 581 517 votes were declared valid.
In the April 5 parliamentary elections, the threshold was passed by four parties: the PCRM (49.48%), the PL (13.13%), the PLDM (12.43%) and the AMN (9.77%).
The budget of the July 29 elections was about 34 million lei.
The PCRM will have 48 seats in the new Parliament (60 seats after the April 5 elections), the PLDM – 18 (15), the PL – 15 (15), the PDM – 13, the AMN - 7 (11).
