100 million lei for industry development plans
The Government will not approve a new strategy for the development of industry, but will update the last one, as many of its stipulations haven’t been implemented. According to Minister of Economy Valeriu Lazar, there has been little work done to achieve the main goal of the strategy, which is industry to rise to the level of 20% of the GDP by 2015, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“After the Strategy was approved in 2006, a kind of deindustrialization took place. Only in 2010 we managed to increase the share of the industrial sector in the GDP and it’s necessary to continue this growth”, the minister said.
The updated goals of the Strategy provide the training of skilled specialists in the area. “The big foreign companies are highly interested in expanding in Moldova, but most of investors complain about the lack of skilled personnel. The old industrial culture is gone, and we don’t have a new one. Here, the Minister of Economy must be helped by the Minister of Labor, Social Protection and Family and by the Ministry of Education and other institutions”, said Valeriu Lazar.
Other provisions in the updated Plan concern increasing the competitiveness of industrial enterprises by implementing advanced systems of quality management, boosting the process of technological innovations and transfer, building a network of industrial parks, implementing information technologies and improving the business and entrepreneurial environment.
The costs of implement the updated Plan of actions are estimated at 100 million lei.
