One hundred local civil servants will attend training seminars as part of the Moldovan-Polish cooperation project “Development of Internal Auditing in Public Administrations in Moldova”. The seminars will be held between September 9 and 12, organized by the Institute of Research and Consulting in Management “Business Consulting Institute”, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to the organizers, mayors, secretaries and public officials working at mayors’ offices in the municipalities of Chisinau and Balti and in the towns of Cahul and Hancesti, and specialists from settlements neighboring these towns will participate in the courses. The project is a joint initiative of the Moldovan Business Consulting Institute and the Polish Foundation PAUCI and is financially supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Poland as part of the Assistance to Moldova Program “Polscka Pomoc”. The project aims to develop internal auditing in the management system of the local authorities of Moldova by improving knowledge about administration in internal auditing in settlements and the professional orientation of internal auditors for local administration. The unfinished decentralization process and the lack of transparency in activity are among the weak points of the reform of the local public administration in Moldova. The project’s long term objective is to improve the auditing and control services in local public administrations and to adjust the management systems to the ISO 9001: 2000 international standards. Training seminars on internal auditing will be held in the municipalities of Chisinau and Balti and in Cahul and Hancesti towns. The seminars are given by joint teams of experts and practitioners from Poland and Moldova. They will combine theory and methodology. A group of 16 Moldovan auditors will familiarize with Poland’s experience in the areas covered by the project during internship and an experience exchange and fact-finding visit to Poland. The strengthening of local public authorities’ internal audit capacities will be discussed at an international conference in Chisinau in December this year.
