Vibrio cholerae wasn’t found in the Nistru

The bacterium Vibrio cholerae hasn’t been found in the Nistru River, said the National Agency for Energy Regulation that monitors the epidemiological situation for cholera and other acute diarrheal diseases annually between May and September, IPN reports.

According to the Agency, 139 water samples were taken during the first three weeks of the monitoring process and a vibrio that does not cause cholera, but can cause acute diarrheal diseases and food poisoning was found in nine of these.

Based on the monitoring results, the authorities are taking preventative and anti-epidemic measures to avoid risks to health. Among the taken measures are the appropriate outfitting of recreational areas and ensuring of the observance of hygiene conditions by the population.
