Two prosecutors of the Anticorruption Prosecutor‘s Office will investigate the purported illegalities of acting prosecutor general Dumitru Robu. These are Vasile Plevan and Ina Frunză Bargan, who were assigned by the Superior Council of Prosecutors today, IPN reports.
Prosecutor Vasile Plevan was designated following a request made by lawyer Igor Hlopetski, who represents the interests of Ruslan Popov, deputy prosecutor general (suspended). The request was examined behind closed doors at the suggestion of the Council’s president Angela Motuzoc, who argued that these subjects are related to the investigation of Ruslan Popov.
Prosecutor Ina Frunză Bargan was entrusted with the task of investigating the alleged illegalities of the acting prosecutor general invoked by activist Veaceslav Valico. This referred to the recently disseminated video showing Dumitru Robu counting a sum of money. According to the activist, this is a situation involving suspicions of corruption.
