Tests of Russian laboratory demonstrated high quality of Moldovan wines

The tests of the laboratory of nuclear reactions of the Unified Institute of Nuclear Researches based in Dubna, Russia, have demonstrated the ecological quality of Moldovan wines. According to the press service of the Moldovan Academy of Sciences (ASM), Tatiana Rotaru, the scientific community in Moldova is puzzled over statements on pollution of Moldovan wines with pesticides and heavy metals. Other toxic substances and introduction of embargo on wine products from Moldova exported to Russia. The ASM chairman, Academician Gheorghe Duca said that Moldova does not use pesticides and other toxic substances in agriculture for about 15 years and this is confirmed by analyses of different laboratories. Even more, wines do not contain toxic substances because a part of harmful substances is eliminated during fermentation, while another part is deposited with wine sediments. In turn, ASM member Boris Gaina, known oenologist, said that there is no ground to restrict the oenological production from Moldova in Russia. He noted that the laboratory of nuclear reactions of the Unified Institute of Nuclear Researches based in Dubna has tested Moldovan wines made from sorts Merlo, Legenda, Bianca, Viorica, Rimon, Causeni, and others at his request. All the tests have demonstrated the ecological quality of Moldovan wines, while the quantity of metals discovered in production was at least 5-10 times lower than norms admitted by Russian standards in effect. Gaina considers that the essence of these unfriendly actions taken by official bodies of Russia is not technological. Moldova has exported 80 percent of its wine production to Russia until March 27.
