The parliamentary group of Șor Party will vote for the lifting of the parliamentary immunity of MPs Ilan Șor and Marina Tauber. Tauber informed about this herself in a news conference given before the meeting of the Parliament’s legal commission for appointments and immunities that is to examine the relevant requests made by acting prosecutor general Dumitru Robu, IPN reports.
“We are firmly convinced that the acting prosecutor general fulfills a political order that comes directly from the current government. The reason is simple and banal – we are a very vocal opposition force and PAS led by Maia Sandu does nothing but tries to intimidate us and to shut us up,” stated Marina Tauber.
The MP noted that she does not have too big expectations of the commission’s debates as these are formal in character and a decision was already taken. “The group of Șor Party will vote in favor of lifting of the immunity of Mister Ilan Șor and my immunity. We together took this decision and will vote with both of the hands as we are not afraid,” stated Marina Tauber.
MP Denis Ulanov said the vote for the lifting of immunity should not be considered recognition of blame. This is the position of the party that pleads for renouncing parliamentary immunity in general.
Last week, acting prosecutor general Dumitru Robu asked to strip MPs Ilan Șor and Marina Tauber of parliamentary immunity as these are suspected of money laundering and swindle.
