According to the Ministry of Health, the virology laboratory of the National Public Health Agency continues selecting biological samples for monitoring the circulation of the new variants of SARS COV-2.
The B1617.2 (Delta) variant or the Indian variant is highly contagious, being two times more infectious than the initial variant and by about 60% more transmittable than the Alpha variant known as the British variant.
The Ministry of Health calls on the population to obey all the measures approved by the health authorities and to protect themselves and the close ones by wearing the protective mask, maintaining physical distancing (minimum 1m), avoiding crowded places and washing or disinfecting the hands as often as possible.
The Ministry notes vaccination against COVID-19 is the only method for preventing infection with COVID-19, all the types of vaccine being effective against the new variants of the virus.
