Jurist Pavel Midrigan considers that the interim Prime Minister Iurie Leanca will accept to become a candidate for Premier so that the PLDM is kept intact until the next parliamentary elections. He made the statement in the program “Moldova in direct” on the public TV channel Moldova 1, IPN reports.
“The chances are great and Mister Leanca will sacrifice himself in order to maintain the party. It is very important for the party to be kept until the next elections. Leanca is the party’s savior. Good or bad, but the country became ‘greener’ and should be kept so until the elections,” said the jurist.
Pavel Midrigan considers that the Democratic MPs will vote Iurie Leanca Prime Minister because they got what they wanted – the post of prosecutor general and the joint electoral system – and feel very comfortable.
In the same program, the chairman of the National Participation Council Sergiu Ostaf said that Iurie Leanca may be voted Prime Minister not only by the MPs who already confirmed their support, but also by other lawmakers.
President Nicolae Timofti appointed Iurie Leanca as interim Prime Minister after the Constitutional Court ruled that the head of state’s decree to designate Vlad Filat as Prime Minister was unconstitutional. According to the Court, the President must name a Cabinet member as Prime Minister to serve until a new Government is formed.
