Zimbru and Sheriff to meet in Cup’s final for second time

Two days before the final of Moldova’s Cup, the representatives of the two teams met with the journalists, but avoided saying who is the favorite of the match that will be played in Chisinau.

The two teams meet in the Cup’s final for the second time, but for the first time at the Zimbru Stadium. In 2004, the team from Chisinau beat Sheriff 2-1 in a match played at the National Stadium.

“They said the tickets sell well. We invite everyone to this game,” Zimbru coach Oleg Kubarev, who won the Cup of Belarus with Gomel in 2011, told the news conference.

“This is my first final. We will make everything possible to defeat Sheriff,” said Dedov, who two years ago became champion with the team from Tiraspol.

Sheriff coach Veaceslav Rusnac is also close to the first final in his career. “The Cup’s final is important for us because we want to win. I expect that the match at the Zimbru Stadium will be nice,” he stated.

For the second time, a Cup’s final will be controlled by foreign referees. Central referee Danny Makkelie from the Netherlands will be helped by his co-nationals Bas van Dongen and Hessel Steegstra. The final involving Sheriff and Zimbru takes place in Chisinau on May 25, starting at 8pm.
