Vladimir Voronin is sure PCRM will win 2009 elections
The government is not worried about the internal political situation in Moldova because the Opposition, especially in Chisinau, acts again in favour of the Communist Party (PCRM) President of Moldova Vladimir Voronin said at a press conference.
The President stated that judging by the activity of the political opponents, he can say that the Communist Party at the 2009 parliamentary elections will be as victorious as in 2001.
Asked why he thinks so if the opinion polls show that PCRM is losing popularity, the head of state said that he does not believe in surveys because they are commissioned and paid by forces from outside with a certain purpose.
Asked who will succeed him as president if PCRM wins the elections, Voronin said that he fully trusts all the party members. Asked to comment on the statements about the need to reform PCRM, including its name, that the Speaker Marian Lupu made this July, Voronin said that all the members have the right to express their opinions. He added that he and Marian Lupu get on well.
In another development, Voronin said that he is president of all the Moldovans, not yet of Romanians.
The head of state said that of all the politicians in Moldova he approves of Iurie Rosca (the leader of the Christian Democratic People’s Party – e.n.) and added that the Liberal Democratic Party (whose founding congress took place earlier this month – e.n.) was created by Valeriu Pasat.
Speaking about the disputes between Termocom SA and the Chisinau administration, Voronin stressed that this is not the problem of the central authorities, but of the Chisinau voters who should analyse the situation and decide what to do next. Also, Vladimir Voronin said that the country’s Christmas tree will be installed on December 28.
