Judoka Victor Sterpu and wrestler Anastasia Nikita, both current European champions, became the athletes of 2020. According to the members of the Sports Press Association of Moldova, judoka Denis Vieru, who won bronze at the last European Championship, takes the third spot in the rankings, IPN reports.

Victor Sterpu and Anastasia Nikita were named the best athletes of last year also by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research.

Tudor Cîrlan and Valeriu Duminică were chosen as the best coaches of 2020, while the football club Petrocub won the title of the best team of the year.

“In 2017, Petrocub was named Revelation of the Year in the same event. Now they became the Best Team. We did huge work to reach such a moment. I thank everyone,” said the president of Petrocub Nicolae Usatyi.
