The family of the businessman Piotr Sari doubts the veracity of information recently published by an official news agency according to which the General Prosecutor’s Office denied the statement of the Sari family regarding the involvement of the communist MP Vasile Iovv in the murder of the businessman Piotr Sari three years ago. The members of the family told a news conference on January 24 that the information was spread to create a conflict between them and the General Prosecutor’s Office and to stop the examination process of the compromising information about Iovv, which was presented to the GPO. According to the cited sources, Valeriu Gurbulea, Deputy Prosecutor General stated that the GPO did not find any direct or indirect proof in what concerns the involvement of the MP in this murder. One of Piotr Sari’s sons, Constantin says that the news agency could not offer any audio recordings with the statement of Gurbulea. The fact that Gurbulea made such statements could not be confirmed by the press office of GPO either. Another son, Evgheni Sari, said that the penal proceedings were not yet finished and the investigation bodies said that at least half a year is needed to examine the documents presented by Sari family. He is convinced that GPO is actively working on the case, especially after a new investigation related to the death of their father was initiated at the order of President Vladimir Voronin and Speaker Marian Lupu. The communist MP Vasile Iov has previously said after the first statements of Sari family that he knew the businessman only as a colleague at the Ministry of Transport and that he is not involved in his murder. Sari family said previously that Piotr Sari and Iovv were business partners and run together 4 companies, such as the Wine Factory of Tomai, Micauti pit, “Transobiect” JSC and “Ornect” JSC, and Sari supported Iovv in the run for Chisinau mayor. Vasile Iovv is MP in the Parliament of Moldova, being the 29th on the list of the Communist Party.
