Sheriff captain Miral Samardzic decided to leave the Tiraspol team after staying in Moldova for five years. The Slovenian fullback, who won four titles with Sheriff, has signed with the vice champion of Croatia HNK Rijeka, IPN reports.
The team trained by Veaceslav Rusnac remained also without Djibril Paye from Guinea and Melli from Spain. Paye signed for the Belgian team Zulte-Waregem, which ranked fourth the last season, while Betis Sevilla’s fullback Melli hasn’t yet found a new team.
Sheriff will play the first game of the UEFA Champions League on July 15. As last year, the Tiraspol team will meet Montenegro’s champion Sutjeska in the second qualifying round. The first match will be played in Tiraspol, starting at 8pm.
