A number of bills were withdrawn in the Parliament’s May 16 sitting because they didn’t obtain the necessary number of votes. Democratic MP Adrian Candu said after the meeting that there will be chaos in Parliament without a majority. On the other hand, the head of the Liberal-Democratic parliamentary group Valeriu Strelet said the bills for which the PLDM didn’t vote are populist, IPN reports.
Among the withdrawn projects are two bills of the Democratic MP Valeriu Guma. They refer to the amendments made to the Tax Code and the Law on Limited Liability Companies. There were also rejected a number of bills of the Liberal Party, which institute punishments for persons who purchase sexual services and modify an article of the Labor Code. The Government’s bill providing that the Moldovan students studying abroad should pay the mandatory health insurance tax only for the period they stay in the country was also withdrawn.
“The lack of a parliamentary majority will bring chaos in the legislature. Today we saw what can happen in such a case. I urge the colleagues from the PLDM to leave the emotions aside and to work together with us so that we do something good for the country,” said Adrian Candu.
Valeriu Strelet said the rejected bills were probably important for the authors. “These bills hadn’t been approved by the Government, referred to the Tax Code and had a suspect approach,” he stated.
The bills will return to Parliament only if they are modified.
