The Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Moldova Oleg Vasnetsov was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration on Wednesday. When going out of the Ministry, the diplomat told the journalists that they discussed the bilateral relations and also the developments in Ukraine, IPN reports.
“I reiterated the genesis of the events – the ousting of the government from power in 2014, the consequences and genocide against the population of Donbas, including the Russian population. I reminded of the negotiations in Minks, which reached deadlock, even if the Western states acted as guarantors,” stated Oleg Vasnetsov.
The diplomat also said that they discussed other issues that served as a trigger for these events, including the negotiations launched by Russia last year with the U.S. and the NATO member states so as to ensure security guarantees, not to allow the enlargement of NATO and the involvement in Ukraine.
He voiced hope that they will be heard even if “the media space today is full of half-truths, half-true news articles”.
Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Nicu Popescu asked to summon the Ambassador of Russia to the Ministry for being informed about the protest over the shelling of Ukrainian civilian infrastructure targets, which led to power outages. “Russia’s brutal bombardments in Ukraine continue to have dramatic consequences for our country. Today (Nov.23), when we have blackouts all over the country, including in the capital city Chisinau, Minister of Foreign Affairs Nicu Popescu asked to urgently summon Russia’s Ambassador in the Republic of Moldova for being informed about our country’s protest over the shelling of targets of Ukrainian civilian infrastructure, which led to power outages,” said a comment by the Ministry’s spokesman Daniel Vodă.
