Ex-Prime Minister Zinaida Grecheanyi was appointed as acting chairwoman of the Party of Socialists (PSRM). The announcement was made by President-elect Igor Dodon after the meeting of the party’s National Council. Zinaida Grecheanyi will hold the post on an interim basis, until December 18, when the party’s Congress will have an extraordinary meeting to choose the new leader of the PSRM, IPN reports.
Igor Dodon said he renounced the membership in the PSRM given that the Head of State cannot be a party member. “In my soul, I remain a Socialist, a President for everyone, but a Socialist for social governance,” he stated.
Zinaida Grecheanyi noted she could make some organizational changes in the party if she is elected fully-fledged chairwoman of the PSRM.
