The Party of Socialists decided to propose Zinaida Grecheanyi for the post of mayor general of Chisinau municipality. The announcement was made by the party’s chairman Igor Dodon on April 14, exactly two months before the local general elections, IPN reports.
Before the crowd attending the event, Igor Dodon said the municipality of Chisinau needs a mayor who is not a party member and who will deal with people’s problems and will not pursue political or geopolitical goals in Chisinau. Therefore, they decided to propose Zinaida Grecheanyi, who is not a party member and who was a good Prime Minister.
For her part, Zinaida Grecheanyi said that things in Chisinau can and should be brought in order. “I have the capacity to bring around me a team of professionals, who will not be involved in politics, but will brings things in Chisinau in order,” she stated.
The local general elections will take place on June 14. Earlier the Liberals announced that current mayor Dorin Chirtoaca remains their candidate for the mayoralty of Chisinau. No other candidates have been yet fielded.
