Zimbru Chisinau is the new holder of Moldova’s Cup. In the final played in Chisinau, the team trained by Oleg Kubarev beat the great rival Sheriff by 3-1, IPN reports.

The national team’s striker Luvannor, who plays for Sheriff, was shown a red card after he hit Dedov with his elbow. Sheriff thus had ten players during over an hour. Zimbru profited from its numeric superiority and opened the score in the 50th minute through Dan Spataru. In 9 minutes, Brazilian player Juninho Potiguar drew for Sheriff. In the 66th minute, Stanojevic scored a self-goal, while Erhan set the score at 3-1 in the 78th minute.

“We didn’t have such a final for a long time. The stadium was full and the match was interesting. The players and the fans made me very happy,” Zimbru coach Oleg Kubarev, who won the Cup of Belarus in 2011, said after the game.

“The season wasn’t a satisfactory one. Our goal was to win the championship and Moldova’s Cup,” said Sheriff coach Veaceslav Rusnac.

Zimbru won Moldova’s Cup for the sixth time. Zimbru and Sheriff will also meet in the first match of the next season. They will compete for Moldova’s Supercup in Tiraspol.
