The band “Zdob și Zdub” and the Advahov Brothers who represented the country at the Eurovision Song Contest returned proud of the seventh place they occupied in the Grand Final on May 14. They performed the song “Little Train” that combines the rock’n’roll style and folklore, national elements and national values, gaining a total score of 253, IPN reports.

“Despite all the impediments, our “Little Train” didn’t deviate from the route and reached the wanted destination – the hearts of millions of people all over the world. The second place by televotes is Moldova’s victory. On the stage, we felt your presence, dear spectators. We thank you for your trust,” the lead singer of “Zdob și Zdub” Roman Iagupov told a news conference.

The national public broadcaster “Teleradio-Moldova” has staged the national preselection Eurovision Moldova since 2005. TRM director general Vlad Țurcanu said the Moldovan musicians were praised and given as an example by the international press. “This means that besides gaining artistic satisfaction, “Zdob și Zdub” and the Advahov Brothers accomplished their mission and deserve our gratitude,” said Vlad Țurcanu.

“Zdob şi Zdub” competed in the Eurovision Song Contest for the third time. In 2005, they ranked sixth with the song “Grandmamma Beats the Drum”, while in 2011 they finished 12th with the song “So Lucky”.

The 66th Eurovision Song Contest involved representatives from 41 countries, while the final featured 25 artists. The contest was won by the Ukrainian group “Kalush Orchestra” with the song “Stefania”.
