A youth march in support of Moldova’s European path was staged on Saturday in Chisinau. The participants marched on the central boulevard of the capital city, from UNIC store to the Parliament Building, chanting pro-EU slogans: “We started our path to the EU, our dream has come true!”, “With hurried steps we start, Europe – we come”, “Moldovan equal to European”, IPN reports.

MP Eugeniu Sinkevich said that the march managed to bring together young people from various organizations. He noted that their common desire is to live in a peaceful, developed country in the European Union.

Attending the march, MEP Siegfried Mureșan noted that everything the young people say today at the march will be heard throughout Europe. The work done by the Republic of Moldova in recent years is seen and appreciated in the EU. Due to the fact that the young people want to be in the EU, Moldova’s integration has already begun. 2024 is the European year in Moldova. The young people should vote for accession to the European Union in a referendum this autumn. The Moldovans with a Romanian passport should vote in the European Parliament elections and show that they care and are ready to be part of the EU.

Madalina Mihaela Antoci, the representative of Erasmus Student Network Moldova, said that the organization supports the integration into the EU and believes that the young people, together, can bring Europe at home. “We are the present and the future,” she added.

The young participants in the march consider that the EU can speed up the change of mentality in society, the giving up of outdated Soviet models. They urged other young people, who remained at home today, to join the efforts to ensure a bright and prosperous future for the current and future generations in a peaceful and developed Europe.
