The youth centers in the country will benefit from financial and methodological support through the agency of a new government program that was approved by the Cabinet. The program, with an annual budget of 4.5 million lei, aims to provide services and programs for young people, with a focus on those in rural areas. The implementation of the program will be coordinated by the National Youth Agency, IPN reports.

The Ministry of Education and Research said that investments will be made to develop the skills of the staff employed in youth centers in order to support young people more effectively. Also, the 67 youth centers in the country could access financial resources to develop and implement new services, such as media literacy, afterschool programs, and financial education.

The funds of the program could also be used by the local public authorities to establish new youth centers, to modernize the infrastructure and improve the equipment of the existing centers.

Also on Wednesday, the Cabinet approved the framework methodology for financing youth centers with the status of public law institutions. The document sets down the criteria for granting funds and the types of eligible expenses, depending on the complexity and impact of the activities carried out by the youth centers.
