Representatives of the young wing of the National Liberal Party (PNL) Thursday picketed the head office of the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM), protesting against the negotiations held by representatives of this party with Communists, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Carrying flags of the PNL and placards, the young people called upon the PLDM not to betray the Alliance for European Integration and not to form a coalition with the Communist Party (PCRM). They brought several watermelons and cut them in front of the PLDM's head office. According to them, the PLDM is like a watermelon – green outside and red inside.
“We do not want the Communists to return to power. We want the AEI to elect the head of state. The principal goal should be to hinder the Communists from coming again to power,” said Nicolae Margarint, the leader of the youth organization of the PNL.
Asked to comment on this event, first vice president of the PLDM Mihai Godea said it was a lamentable riposte.
Earlier this month, the leaders of the PLDM and PCRM, Vlad Filat and Vladimir Voronin, confirmed that they had had a number of meetings. Politicians and analysts said the meetings may represent attempts by the two parties to form an alliance. However, Vlad Filat rulled out the possibility of a coalition with the Communists.
