Young man with benignant jaw tumor operated successfully at Emergency Medicine Institute

A man aged 35 with a giant benignant tumor on the lower jaw was successfully operated at the Emergency Medicine Institute. This very difficult case was presented by the institution today, April 7, when it is celebrated World Health Day. Doctors warn the population about the necessity of seeing a doctor on time, IPN reports.

The man was operated by specialists of the departments of “Nicolae Testemițanu” State University of Medicine and Pharmacy and health professionals of three units.



The man was diagnosed with recurring mandibular ameloblastoma. He had an aggressive tumor that was removed at the Oncological Institute in 2018. He was operated again for several times. He went to the Emergency Medicine Institute with superinfection and recidivated tumor.



The surgery was performed on March 22 and lasted for eight hours. It involved an interdisciplinary team of oro-maxillo-facial specialists, neurosurgeons and anesthesiologists.
