Weather forecasters issued a yellow code advisory for floods for Briceni district and issued another hydrological warning for the southern districts of Moldova, IPN reports.
The warning for southern Moldova was issued following the increase in the volume of water released from the Dnestrovsk accumulation lake on the Nistru up to 1,100 m3/s.
The level of water will continue to rise until April 15, by 2-3 meters on average. The Nistru is expected to flood slightly in Stefan – Voda district.
The Civil Protection and Emergencies Service announced that it will set up three observation posits on the Nistru and Prut, while the employees will monitor the level of water during the next three days. The decision was taken following a meeting held with representatives of Moldova’s Water Agency and the State Hydrometeorology Service.
According to specialists, there are now no reasons for concern. Such measures are taken with a view to ensuring the efficient monitoring of the situation.
