Moldova is a partially independent country. As long as it depends on other states economically, financially and politically, it cannot be called an independent country, writer Aurelian Silvestru has told IPN. According to him, given that the people suffer from poverty because they do not have a guaranteed hope in tomorrow, the Republic of Moldova cannot be called independent.

“For independence, it’s not enough to adopt a Declaration of Independence. For independence, we need to contribute all and feel masters and control the situation where we are. This way, if everyone is independent, we will have an independent people. However, judging by the sadness from old people’s eyes, the future is rather uncertain now. I believe in tomorrow and in the affirmative power of the people. But I think that we have yet a lot to do and that definite things must be done,” said the writer.

According to Aurelian Silvestru, society needs concrete facts, not politicians who call on the people to follow one direction or another. Moldova’s independence must mean freedom of speech, freedom of the media and freedom of movement.

This year it is 23 years of the adoption of the Declaration of Independence.
