Irina Ringaci has medaled bronze at the Cadet World Wrestling Championships that are taking place in Zagreb, IPN reports.
In the 57 kg weight class, she started with two victories against Turkey’s Yagmur Cakmak and Sweden’s Nova Ilona Bergman. In the quarterfinals, she lost to the future finalist Anna Hella Szel of Hungary 7-9.
In the playoffs, the athlete trained by Andrei and Petru Chiperi beat Germany’s Anastasia Blayvas and in the match for the bronze medal defeated China’s Yaping Zhu.
Earlier this year, Irina Ringaci won silver at the Cadet European Wrestling Championships and will compete in the Buenos Aires Youth Olympic Games.
