The veterans of World War will receive a one-time payment of 30,000 lei on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the victory over fascism. This is provided in a draft law that was approved by the Cabinet on Wednesday, IPN reports.
Minister of Labor and Social Protection Alexei Buzu said that the veterans of World War II annually benefit from financial assistance in the amount of 10,000 lei. This year the aid will be 30,000 lei.
"These veterans fought, first of all, for the victory of peace. These people fought against Nazism. They fought for peace in Europe," said Prime Minister Dorin Recean.
The authorities noted that the financial support is provided in gratitude for the sacrifice and devotion shown by the veterans and in appreciation of their significant contributions to the defense of the fundamental values of humanity during World War II.
According to the National House of Social Insurance, the payments are intended for 25 veterans. The money will be transferred to recipients’ bank cards by May 9. Those who do not have a card will collect the money at post offices.
