Seventeen schools from different districts of Moldova will be renovated and modernized at the first stage of the Education Reform in Moldova Project that is implemented by the Ministry of Education. About 90 education institutions will be renovated within this project by 2018 with a loan of US$40 million provided by the World Bank in budget support, IPN reports.
According to a press statement of the Ministry of Education, the schools were selected out of 43 preuniversity education institutions proposed by the local public authorities. State secretary of the Ministry of Education Natalia Gavrilita, executive director of the Education Reform in Moldova Project, said the first stage covers districts that showed readiness to implement the new financing methodology in education and efficiently managed the money allocated for the education system.
Among the selection criteria used were the prospects of the school and the settlement, the number of children at the school and in the neighboring settlements, the management of the education process, the school performance and the involvement level of the school administration and parents.
The documents required for the renovation works will be designed by the end of this year. Also by this yearend, there will be repaired roofs and heating systems and thermally insulated the walls. The basic works will be performed in 2015.
The 17 schools are: the Theoretical Lyceum “A. Donici” in Ciuciuleni, Hancesti; the Theoretical Lyceum “Alexandru cel Bun” in Varzaresti, Nisporeni; the secondary school in Siscani, Nisporeni; the Theoretical Lyceum “Vasile Parvan” in Gotesti, Cantemir; the Theoretical Lyceum “A.S. Pushkin” in Ungheni town; the Theoretical Lyceum “Mihai Eminescu” in Sipoteni, Calarasi; the Theoretical Lyceum in Tibirica, Calarasi; the Theoretical Lyceum “V. Anestiade” in Saratenii Vechi, Telenesti; the Theoretical Lyceum “A. Mateevici” in Cainari town; the Theoretical Lyceum in Visoca, Soroca; the Theoretical Lyceum “Ioan Luca Caragiale” in Orhei town; the Theoretical Lyceum “Hyperion” in Gura Galbenei, Cimislia; the Theoretical Lyceum “M. Eminescu” in Cimislia town; the Theoretical Lyceum “L. Blaga” in Iargara, Leova; the Theoretical Lyceum in Recea, Rascani; the Theoretical Lyceum “S. Lucaci” in Costesti, Rascani; the Theoretical Lyceum “Vasile Coroban” in Glodeni town.
