The World Bank offers US$3 million worth of grants intended for Moldovan enterprises for enhancing the competitiveness of products and obtaining access to new markets. Each enterprise can get at most 200,000 lei, IPN reports, quoting a press release of the WB.
The money will be provided within the Second Competitiveness Enhancement Project. The project’s subcomponent “Co-financing grants” was launched by the Ministry of Economy and the World Bank on September 21. The applicant companies will be able to increase the quality of products and services and to launch new ones, to optimize the internal processes, to improve their image and to identify new clients and markets.
The grants will cover 50% of the costs of services, but will not exceed 200,000 lei per applicant.
According to the executive director of the Second Competitiveness Enhancement Project Aureliu Casian, the grants are intended for exporting enterprises and enterprises that contribute to producing goods for export from four sectors: food and beverages; electronic and mechanical products, textiles, and information technology.
Enterprises working in other sectors of the economy can also apply, but these four sectors will be given priority as they have the greatest growth potential and now generate about half of the exports.
The Second Competitiveness Enhancement Project with a budget of US$45 million will be implemented in 2015-2019 to improve the business environment by assisting the Government in carrying out strategies aimed at creating a favorable business climate and at reducing the constraints and costs associated with business management.
