Woman raped in her own house

A young mother was raped in her own house by a man who introduced himself as an employee of the Enterprise for the Management of Dwellings. The alleged rapist is still at liberty, fact that determined the Centre for Children Rights (CCR) to publicise a press release by means of which it expresses concern that the justice might discharge the suspect. According to CCR, the men managed to enter the victim's house under the pretext of a water meter inspection, introducing himself as the employee of the aforementioned institution. Then he threatened the woman with a knife, forcing her to have sexual intercourse. The man was later arrested by police. He recognised he had sexual intercourse with the woman, but claimed that it happened consensually. After the 15-day arrest warrant expired, the judge refused to prolong the warrant, setting the man free in the courtroom. The lawyers at CCR consider that the judge did not take into consideration the fact that the suspect could make pressures over the victim, this way influencing the investigation. At the same time, the organisation admits the risk that the investigations will be carried out superficially and informed the General Prosecutor’s Office about this case.
