The winners of the traditional tennis tournament “Dmitrie Sturdza Trophy”, for the first time in the 17-year-history of the competition, will not get Swiss watches. This year the champions will not receive the awards handed over by the Romanian Prince, who will not attend the competition, IPN reports.

However, the administration of the Moldovan Tennis Federation said the athletes will be anyway motivated. “They will get prizes by all means. The Ministry of Youth and Sport will help us in this regard,” the Association’s president Marina Tauber told a news conference.

The winners of the 17th competition, which forms part of the ITF Juniors circuit, will be announced on February 14. The tournament will involve 100 tennis players from 30 countries. Maxim Dubarenco is the last Moldovan who won the main trophy. He now plays for Belarus.
