The National Food Safety Agency has announced the suspension of compliance certificates issued on September 5 for wine in PET bottles that were certified by series. This way, the wine products in PET packing will be certified only by batches, IPN reports.

The institution said the measure was taken after inspectors of the National Food Safety Agency made surprise visits to retail outlets to take samples and determine the quality of wine in PET bottles (polyethylene, terephthalate). “The certification by series of wine in PET bottles will be resumed not earlier than in six months on condition that the producers of wine in PET bottles meet all the requirements when these are tested by lots,” says a press release.

Consumers who find noncompliant wine products or deviations from the legislation on consumer protection are asked to file a complaint to the National Food Safety Agency or to write to the email address sesizare@ansa.gov.md.
