New rises in fuel prices are expected this week. A liter of gasoline on Tuesday will cost 23.94 lei, up 0.13 lei, while a liter of gasoline COR 95 will be sold for 24.20 lei, up 0.17 lei, IPN reports.

The National Agency for Energy Regulation said the last rises in fuel prices are primarily due to the increase in the Platts quotations for oil derivatives at international exchanges. The current methodology for determining the level of prices is based on this indicator.

So far this year, the Platts quotations for gasoline and diesel fuel rose by about 100$/tonne. The price of oil last week grew by 8%, which is the highest growth since last October.

“At the same time, the statistics published by Globalpetrolprices.com continue placing the Republic of Moldova among the top four countries with the lowest fuel prices on the European continent. The prices are lower than in the Republic of Moldova only in the Russian Federation, Belarus and Turkey, which have significant own production capacities and are important players in the regional logistics chain for using Russian oil,” noted the Agency.
