The authorities are to launch a website dedicated to the “European Moldova” Assembly. Detailed information about the program of the event scheduled for May 21 will be posted here, IPN reports.

The Government’s spokesman Daniel Vodă said that a working group was set up to organize the event. Logistics are ensured by the Ministry of Culture through the agency of “Moldova Concert”. They are now working on an artistic program and other details, including those related to the speeches that will be given on the stage that will be set up in the Great National Assembly Square.

As to the reservation of the central square of Chisinau, Daniel Vodă said the Government, through the agency of the State Chancellery, filed an application by which it explained the necessity of the reservation to the Chisinau City Hall. “Contrary to statements made in the public sphere by officials of the local administration, we didn’t see an effort to convoke representatives of the Sate Chancellery to discuss the reservation of the square on that date. We remain open. We reiterate that this is an event of the citizens in which Moldova will say a clear and firm “yes” to the irreversible path of integration into the EU,” stated the spokesman.

According to him, a website of the event will be launched soon and this will contain information about the program of the event and not only. “We are effusively inspired by the multiple messages coming from the diaspora. There are initiative groups that plan to stage similar events in host countries. There are citizens who intend to return home to take part in the event in Chisinau. The diaspora mobilizes. We thank it for this colossal effort. I want to reiterate the public invitation to the citizens to take part in the “European Moldova” Assembly in the Great National Assembly Square on May 21. We say clearly and straightforwardly – the irreversible future of our country is in the European Union,” stated Daniel Vodă.

The “European Moldova” Assembly was announced by President Maia Sandu. The event is designed to convey a firm message to the international community about the Moldovans’ sincere wish to be part of the European family. The event is held ahead of the European Political Community Summit that Moldova will host on June 1.
