“We support the exclusively peaceful resolution of the Transnistrian conflict, by political-diplomatic ways, and any speculations about particular aggressive intensions are just provocations and intentional misinformation,” said President Maia Sandu, who noted there are no preconditions for a conflict, IPN reports.
In a meeting with the Head of the OSCE Mission to Moldova Claus Neukirch, President Sandu said the citizens from the Transnistria region are citizens of the Republic of Moldova and there are no misunderstandings or enmity between the inhabitants from the two sides of the river.
The officials discussed the negotiation process and the necessity of laying emphases on constructive aspects. “The 5+2 format remains the main platform for the negotiation process, which should work in the interests of the people and should cover a series of subjects, including on the humanitarian dimension, human rights, socioeconomic aspect and the freedom of movement,” stated Maia Sandu.
She reiterated that the fight against corruption and smuggling are among her top priorities.
