Political analyst Ion Tabarta expects that the new government will work according to the program of association with the EU. “Our major goal for the next political cycle is to fully implement the provisions of the Association Agreement. If we manage this and do serious reforms in a number of areas, we will have a functional government,” Ion Tabarta stated for IPN.

As to the structure of the government, the analyst said that the current formula with 16 ministries can be preserved. “I don’t think that the creation of a technocratic government is now possible, if only we witness a serious political crisis like that of 1999, when it was decided to create the Braghis Government. But that was a momentary solution,” stated Ion Tabarta, adding that the success of the government will depend on the implementation of the Association Agreement and the promoted reforms.

The expert believes that a number of ministers must have the chance to complete some of the reforms. The candidacy of Iurie Leanca for premiership does not cause controversy and he is generally accepted, as Foreign Minister Natalia Gherman, who successfully continued the policies initiated by Iurie Leanca. The same is true about Minister of Education Maia Sandu. The other ministers, especially those who served for four or five years, must be replaced. The institutions they managed need a new impetus to their activity.
