Prime Minister Maia Sandu on June 17 presented the new Minister of Agriculture Georgeta Mincu to the secretaries of state and functionaries of the Ministry of Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment. The Premier noted the new minister has experience of working with international partners in agriculture, IPN reports.

Maia Sandu said she would like local teams to work in each district and offer assistance to farmers so that these know how to be competitive when exporting.

Georgeta Mincu said she will focus on the fulfillment of the commitments for implementing the Association Agreement with the EU. “We must together optimize all the processes, especially the administrative and business processes, and ease the life of entrepreneurs and those who protect the environment,” stated the new minister.

In 2000, Georgeta Mincu started to work at the Ministry of Economy. After obtaining a bachelor’s degree in international economic relations in Romania, Georgeta Mincu studied for a master’s degree in development studies at the University College in Dublin, Ireland. Until recently, she offered consultancy to businesses and led a Management Development Center.
