During his visit to Brussels, Deputy Prime Minister Nicu Popescu emphasized the commitment and determination of the Moldovan authorities towards the reform agenda and continuous implementation of the European Commission’s recommendations. “We are on the home straight in implementing the nine recommendations of the European Commission, and this year we have managed to make substantial progress in several areas”, declared Popescu.

In Brussels, Nicu Popescu met with Olivér Várhelyi, the European Commissioner for Neighborhood and Enlargement, Gert Jan Koopman, director general of the General Directorate for Neighborhood and Enlargement Negotiations, and Simon Mordue, Chief Foreign Policy Advisor to the President of the European Council Official.

According to the MFAEI, the officials discussed the latest developments in the implementation of the nine recommendations formulated by the European Commission and the substantial progress made by Moldova over the past year.

“The focus of the conversations was on the fact that we are in the middle of an extensive self-assessment process to ensure the compatibility of national legislation with the European one (self-screening). In Also, the interlocutors were informed about the drafting and public consultation of the National Plan for Accession to the European Union. This plan clearly reflects our national objective to prepare the Republic of Moldova for EU accession by 2030”, the Ministry said in a press release.
