WB Country Manager Edward Brown completes his mission in Moldova

Edward Brown, World Bank Country Manager for Moldova completed his mission in our country. Brown has run the Chisinau Office since July 2003.
At a meeting with Prime Minister Vasile Tarlev, the WB official expressed his contentment with the cooperation relations established with Moldovan partners, especially with Moldova’s Government, as regards the implementation of joint projects. Brown referred especially to the development of the public administration reform, expressing his belief that keeping the same pace of the public administration reform’s implementation will contribute to making the central administration more efficient.
According to the Prime Minister, the Government enjoyed the World Bank support when implementing some projects important to Moldova in such areas as health, education, energy sector, road construction, projects implemented through FISM, as well as in the field of implementing the public administration reform.
Edward Brown will be replaced by Melanie Marlett, who was introduced to the Moldovan officials earlier this May. Marlett holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from Cornell University and a PhD from Tufts University. She is currently completing her assignment as World Bank Country Programme Coordinator for Kenya, Eritrea, Somalia, Tanzania and Uganda.
