Drivers are warned to outfit the units of transport with winter tires and antiskid chains and to have a shovel and sacks of sand in the trunk of the car. If they face difficulties on the road, until the rescuers arrive they should keep the engine on for particular periods so as to avoid exhaust gas poisoning. The warnings are issued in connection with the expected sudden change in weather, IPN reports.

The people are urged to make journeys only if it’s strictly necessary. If they set off, they should take food reserves, warm drinks and appropriate clothes with them, while the battery of the cellphone should be charged so as to seek help if necessary. The pedestrians are warned to avoid waling on road sections where there could be broken electric cables and branches following sleet.

Another recommendation is to appropriately exploit stoves and electrical heating devices so as to avoid fires.

In situations of risk, the persons are urged to call the emergency services.
