Afghanistan and Dniester war veterans urge all voters to support the ACUM bloc Chișinău mayoral hopeful, Andrei Năstase, and all other ACUM bloc candidates, regardless of location, in the second round of general local election set for November 3.

In an IPN press conference, Gheorghe Slutu, a reserve police colonel, read the veterans' statement. "Socialists, democrats and other political opportunists want to keep us in the past, while Andrei Năstase and the ACUM bloc, through all their accomplishments, want to lead us with determination to a civilized Europe", said Gheorghe Slutu.

According to the veterans, Andrei Năstase is the man who can guarantee the continuation of reform implementation. "The place of the Republic of Moldova is close to the European countries, where the people's democracy and freedom are never called into question", said Gheorghe Slutu, a police colonel in reserve.

Constantin Boeștean, a veteran, also said that he supports Andrei Năstase because he is the man who organized the 2015 street protests against "the criminals who dared to embezzle the country's treasury". "He is the fighter who has shown that he is not afraid of anything and wants democracy in Moldova", said Constantin Boeștean.

Anton Gămurari, a veteran, said that we all have the chance "to get on our feet", to promote a "correct ideology, oriented towards Europe" and can get "a decent life, as written in the Constitution". The veteran urged voters to choose Andrei Năstase, saying that he "did not betray, he led the people and proved that he wants to change things for the better".

The veterans expect the future mayor to sit at the discussion table and to decide what will City Hall do in order to solve the issues of citizens who  fought "for the country".
