Someone dreams of ...killing in Moldova?
Russia didn’t give up plans to occupy southern Ukraine and then Moldova, said Dmitry Pletenchuk, press officer for the Nikolayev city administration: “We understand why they (the Russians) need the whole south of Ukraine. The economic blockage and blocking of access to the sea ports of Ukraine are the main reasons of the Russian attacks on our southern cities. And they surely dream of a land corridor to the unrecognized Transnistria with the subsequent occupation of Moldova.”
HIMARS means “nightmare” in Russian
The White House will send four additional rocket launchers to Ukraine, as part of a new $450 million package of military assistance, the Department of Defense announced on Thursday.
The move will double the number of High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems sent to Ukraine amid that nation’s battle with Russian forces for control of the eastern Donbas region.
A senior U.S. Defense Department official praised the actions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine during their defense of the town of Severodonetsk in the Donbas.
“From a military perspective, what I would say is (that) the small number of Ukrainians that held the Russians at Severodonetsk for as long as they did is really something I think we'll probably all study in the future,” the official said.
The Kremlin fights not against Ukraine, the U.S. or NATO, but against whole civilized world
This week’s Group of Seven summit was a great success because it showed unity and cohesion on helping Ukraine defend itself from the Russian invasion, Italian Premier Mario Draghi told a press conference Tuesday, stressing his hope that there would now be a deal on a Russian gas price cap before the October date he extracted from EU leaders last week for viewing a report on the issue.
“This G7 has really been a success, our countries have reaffirmed their full and great cohesion, great unity of views in particular on the war in Ukraine and its consequences,” he said.
Draghi added that UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said “we are near the moment of truth” on the Ukraine grain crisis to see if Ukraine and Russia want to make a deal on letting grain out of the ports.
Boris Johnson and fellow G7 leaders condemned Russia’s actions in Ukraine as the summit in Germany drew to a close. The Prime Minister said he did not think the war would lead to a wider conflict in Europe but warned that was what Vladimir Putin wanted.
As to the warning that Nato members have to be prepared to fight if their territory was attacked by Russia, Mr Johnson said: “I don’t think it will come to that. Clearly we are working very hard to confine this to Ukraine.
“Putin and the Kremlin are going to try to widen the conflict and say that this is something to do between Nato and Russia – that is not it at all. This is about an invasion of an independent sovereign country. It is about the West and the friends of Ukraine giving them the support they need to protect themselves.”
For France, Russia is not a terrorist state
With the conclusion of their three-day summit, G7 leaders have agreed to develop a price cap on Russian oil and provide billions in food assistance to avert a hunger crisis caused by the war in Ukraine.
French President Emmanuel Macron said that Russia "cannot and should not win" the Ukraine war. “Right now, it is clear, Russia’s attack on Ukraine's territory has one objective — the surrender of Ukraine,” said Macron, adding that the G7 would support Ukraine, "as long as necessary, and with the necessary intensity."
Speaking at the press conference after the G7 Summit, Emmanuel Macron did not acknowledge the "qualification" of a state sponsor of terrorism about Russia. He stressed that they do not require "qualifications" to announce sanctions against Moscow.
Macron’s statement comes after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in his address at the G7 Summit on June 27 called for recognizing "Russia as a state sponsor of terrorism."
Ukraine exports to Europe what Moldova buys from RAO EAS
The continental European transmission system ENTSO-E has decided to officially start commercial electricity exports from Ukraine to Europe on June 30 with an initial volume of 100 MW, announced Minister of Energy Herman Galushchenko. According to the minister, the energy export volumes will increase gradually after the monthly ENTSO-E impact assessment on the European energy system. Ukraine’s power system can provide up to 1,690 MW of capacity for export..
The Kremlin will go until it is not stopped
Mikhail Poltoranin, former deputy prime minister of Russia and a person close to ex-President Boris Yeltsin, said Russia can wage a war on other countries if it succeeds in Ukraine and the European leaders who demand that Ukraine should be conciliatory in negotiations should realize this. “President Putin can attack [other countries]. Why does he need the Black Sea? Because there are Georgia, Bulgaria, Moldova and Romania beyond,” stated Poltoranin.
According to him, Russia tries to extend its influence into the countries that it thinks it can conquer. If Macron and other European leaders endeavor to convince Ukraine to surrender, mafia from the Kremlin will go on.
